Sync calendar & contacts in Thunderbird

Add the projectfacts calendar in Thunderbird via CalDAV and synchronise contacts via the CardBook add-on (CardDAV).

Prerequisites

In Thunderbird you add the calendar directly via CalDAV. For contacts you additionally need the free CardBook add-on (CardDAV). You find the username and server address in your sync profile under Connection details.

Synchronise the calendar

  1. In Thunderbird, open the Calendar.
  2. On the left, under Calendar, right-click and choose New Calendar ….
  3. In the dialog, choose On the Network.
  4. Choose CalDAV and enter the username and server address. Both – username and calendar server address – are in the connection details of the sync profile. Click Next.
  5. Give the calendar a name (e.g. projectfacts calendar) and a colour. You can clear the Show reminders checkbox if you wish.
  6. Enter the password. This is the password you use to sign in to projectfacts. Tick Use Password Manager to remember this password, click OK and then Finish.
  7. Wait a moment – the calendar entries load gradually. Alternatively, restart the mail client.

Synchronise contacts (CardBook add-on)

  1. Click the menu icon → Add-ons → Add-ons.
  2. Search for the CardBook add-on, install it and restart Thunderbird.
  3. In the top menu, click the new CardBook entry.
  4. On the left, under All address books, right-click and choose New Address Book.
  5. Choose On the Network and click Next.
  6. Under Type, choose CardDAV. Under Connection, enter the server address, username and password – these details are in the sync profile under Connection details. Tick Use Password Manager to remember this password and click Next.
  7. Give the address book a name (e.g. projectfacts contacts).
  8. Wait a moment – the contacts load.
